We're back in Colorado!

Yessirreee!
After a quick and long flight back to Oz for three weeks, we jumped back on the plane for the long-haul back to the US for the 'Part-B' of the Pikes Peak Hillclimb effort.

Arrived LAX, waited through US immigration for 1 hour, got into the domestic terminal to catch the flight to Denver, that also took 1 hour and 45 minutes in queues, then we landed in Denver CO, grabbed the rental car and..... slept. Well, till midnite, then I was awake to about 4, then slept to 9am, then we had to get up and do errands.

What a fantastic day it turned out to be!

Went to recce the Mountain, saw the Sunday tourist traffic and thought, bugger this, so we turned back around and headed to where the Skelta was stored at Pikes PEak International Raceway, unloaded it and shot over to the back course of the track for the SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) Autocross, where we were greeted warmly, welcomed amazingly by everyone, and they broke all the rules to allow us to run because we asked to do so so late.  What fantastic people. We made new friends, Alisha and Michael, who looked after us, took me around in her lil' Neon R/T spec club racer so I could get to see the course then they let us loose!  WOOHOO!! I Can't tell you have much I appreciate all they did for us in doing this, as it allowed me to get a really good feel for the car moving around under braking and acceleration and switchbacks and setups and hearing it rev. Yes, I think the Skelta liked doing it more than me.

Skelta gets in good company.

Lined up on the Start line. 3,2,1.. GO!
Skelta slips and swings through the high-speed autocross course. Shame these arent allowed in Australia, these really teach drivers all about car control.

Chevy cruze rental doing recce duties at Pikes Peak.

They call these the 'W's for a reason!

Tomorrow we have errands to run and some prep work. More to come.
